Georgia man arrested on multiple charges

April 14 2025

AUBURN, Ala. - On April 9, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Antonio Travis Goddard, age 42, from Thomaston, Georgia, on felony warrants charging him with identity theft, theft of property first degree and possession of a forged instrument third degree.

The arrest stems from the Auburn Police Department receiving a report that a business check was mailed to the intended recipient from a location in Florida in May 2024. While in transit, the check was stolen and altered.

Florida police initiated an investigation and discovered that in May 2024, the check was deposited at a bank in Auburn. Antonio Travis Goddard was identified as a suspect.

After further investigation, Auburn Police obtained arrest warrants for identity theft, theft of property first degree and possession of a forged instrument third degree. Goddard was located by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and arrested in obedience to the warrants. On April 9, 2025, Goddard was transported to the Auburn Police Department and the warrants were executed.

Goddard was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $11,500 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
